V. Sattui WInery
Highway 29 at White Lane, St. Helena
707.963.7774
Located just south of St. Helena on Highway 29, this family-owned winery, established in 1885, offers a stone winery building with a large gourmet cheese shop and deli surrounded by two-and-a-half acres of lovely, shaded picnic grounds. It's a highly rated winery, but a bit commercialized due to its popularity. I still love it anyway.
Chateau Potelle Winery
3875 Mt. Veeder Road, Yountville
707.255.9440
Off the beaten path about 19 miles south of Calistoga, it's best to visit this quaint, European-inspired winery at the start or end of your visit due to its location. It's worth the four-mile winding road en-route and the mountain views are stunning. It's the most beautiful winery to me. Call before going to make sure the tasting room is open.
